Therapy

Individual Therapy

DBT in Schools not only provides services in schools but also provides in-clinic child and adolescent services at the

Melbourne DBT centre in  Mureenbena and Officer.

Psychologists  can help young people to handle any challenges they may be facing.

Difficult life situations affect all young people and might include:

  • emotional stress such as depression and anxiety
  • grief and sadness
  • bullying
  • sexuality issues
  • substance abuse issues
  • trauma
  • family breakdown or parent problems, or
  • friendship and relationship issues

Seeing a Psychologist is an opportunity for students to talk about their problems, ask questions and develop skills to cope with these problems.

Individual therapy sessions are provided at the child’s school at a time convenient with the school, and are usually  30 or 50 minute sessions.

For children communication about the goals and progress is provided to the parent throughout therapy.
